How to tune a Shimano engine ?
E-bikes are limited to 25 km/h or slightly more depending on the country. To comply with legislation, flange manufacturers design electronic systems that automatically stop your motor above a certain speed.
If this bothers you, there are several methods to modify the original behavior of your engine. The preferred system for reliability and performance is the installation of a debriding kit. There are internal and external kits available. Below are the particularities of each installation.
Internal set up
- Uncoupling the Shimano Steps engine from your bike
- Access the cables that are connected to your motor.
- Connect the kit between the existing wiring
- Activation/deactivation of the Shimano kit is controlled from your handlebar.
External set up
- Identify on the rear frame, the location of the kit (at the speed sensor)
- Power your Shimano kit with the battery and simply attach the kit to the speed sensor-
- Your Shimano engine is permanently unleashed
